Honda Baby NSX is Taking Shape

There has been a great deal of speculation about the development of Honda’s new coupe. When questioning the sales staff at Honda dealerships, Perth drivers have often come away with little to no information. Fortunately it appears that the Baby NSX is taking shape and while you are unlikely to see it in your local car dealership Perth, Honda enthusiasts can expect to see more and more details being released about this edgy coupe.

The rendering of the Baby NSX has recently been released along with more information about this closely guarded development. This will be the third mid engine sports car developed by the Japanese auto giant. It is anticipated that this coupe will share similar proportions to the brand’s new flagship super car. However, it is also anticipated that this model will incorporate innovations and technology from the mid engined four wheel drive NSX. This should deliver a powerful combo which has the potential to be a serious class leader.
It was reported in late 2014 that the team of Honda engineers were evaluating the viability of marketing a third type of mid engined coupe. This model was suggested to slot into the gap between the bigger NSX and the mini roadster 660cc S660. This was suggested to form the basis of a powerful S1000 destined for the export markets. It is thought that this new model will be presented as a successor to the S2000.
This development is very significant considering that Honda is set on course to launch three models of all new sports car, the S660/S1000, NSX and Civic Type R by the middle of next year. There is also an anticipated release of the second generation CRZ model by 2018.

These images show that the mid sized sport coupe will demonstrate a family resemblance to the NSX and the S660. Since the US is likely to be the primary market and the NSX is being assembled there, this seems sensible, especially as it is likely that the baby NSX will also be built there.  It is expected that this new model will have a world debut at the Detroit motor show in 2018.
